The 2024 Howie Kolhoff Invitational will be held the weekend of February 24 & 25 at Eastway Bowl in Sioux Falls, SD. The 11th Annual Team Event will be held on Saturday, February 24 with the Singles Sweeper taking place on Sunday, February 25. Over $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded for this event weekend.

Here are a few highlights for each event…
Team Event
- 1 day Scratch Event open to Middle/High School USBC sanctioned bowlers *Please review the outlined rules for how teams may be formed for this event
- New for 2024 – Teams will now be made of 4 bowlers with 1 optional sub. We hope changing the team formation will take away some of the stress of combining teams for this event.
- One qualifying shift at 8am followed by double elimination Baker match play in the afternoon
- Maximum 32 team entries will be accepted
- 3 game qualifier with Top 16 Open teams and Top 8 Girls teams advancing to bracket play
- All-Tournament Team honors
Singles Event
- 1 day event open to Scratch and Handicap USBC Sanctioned Middle/High School bowlers
- Over 150 bowler entries will be accepted
- 2 divisions – 190 average and above (Scratch), 189 average and below (Handicap) *see rules for exceptions
- 2 qualifying shifts – 8am and 12pm (see below for multiple qualifying option)
- 4 game qualifier with top bowlers advancing to Eliminator and Step Ladder Finals
- $1000 First Place scholarship awards for Champions in each division (based on enrollments)
Entries for both events must be submitted and paid online. Each entry form allows for multiple entries to be submitted on the same entry. Payment options also allow you to pay for more than one entry in a single payment. As a reminder, all entries must be paid at the time of submission. No entry is complete until both the entry form and payment are submitted.
Reunion Event
Back by popular demand, we will host round 2 of The REUNION event. This event will take place Saturday after the completion of the Team event. This is a fundraiser for the Howie Kolhoff Scholarship Fund. Anyone previously participating (bowlers and coaches) in the Howie Kolhoff Invitational or mentored by Howie himself are invited to attend. We know there are coaches in the SDHSBA program today that have been with us from year 1. Would be exciting to see you participate in this event having your bowlers cheer you on (hint, hint).
The 1st place winners of the Open and Girls Division will get a special invite to the REUNION event to complete against the ‘oldies’! It’s their chance to show how the future stars of tomorrow throw down and take home the gold.

50/50 Raffle Volunteers
Each year the Howie Kolhoff Committee coordinates a 50/50 raffle sale with the local bowling centers. 100% of the funds earned from the 50/50 sales are applied to the Howie Kolhoff Scholarship Fund for future events. We are looking for volunteers to assist at Sport Bowl January 8-12 and Eastway Bowl February 5-9. For your assistance you will receive a $20 credit toward your team entry for this year’s event. If you’re interested in assisting, please reach out to me directly to coordinate.
Senior/Custom PIN Orders
We’ve refreshed our pin stock and are ready to tackle all your Senior PIN orders. Due to some change in location for some of our team members we ask that you place your order for Senior PINs by January 1. Orders will be completed in the order they are received and delivered as quickly as possible. Our goal is to complete all orders by January 20.
PINS are $20 each and include a PIN dipped with your team colors, your school logo and each Senior Bowlers name personalized on the PIN along with the graduation year. Each PIN will have a gloss coat and felt bottom to finish off the design.

SDHSBA Bowling PIN Raffle
We will again have school pins for raffle at each State event. Similar to prior years, each team/school is represented in the raffle. Each pin has been dipped in the schools’ colors with their school logo on front and the current year on back. Additional details will be sent out when online raffle tickets are available for purchase. We will draw the winners after qualifying of the last State event. You need not be present to win.
In past years we’ve had teams request to purchase a PIN the day of the State event. If your interested in this we can take a pre-order for you now and have that PIN ready for you at the event.
