It was a victorious weekend for bowlers on the Sioux Falls East girls team. They bested the girls field in Lincoln, NE, en route to winning the 2018 Start City Open. The tournament was held November 3-4.
Coming in second in the girls division was Waverly, NE, and in third place, Fremont, NE. On the boys side, Lincoln North Star claimed the championship crown, followed by Hastings, NE in second, and Fremont, NE, in third.
Several SDHSBA bowlers on both the boys and girls side competed exceptionally well, earning spots on the all-tournament team. Boys all-tournament members included: Miller Souter (1), Eli Reisner (7) and Reece Hartmann (10); girls all-tournament members included: Macy Anderson (1), Brooklyn Gagnon (2), Lauren Helmbrecht (3), Tori Christiansen (5) and Kassidy Haberman (7).
The SDHSBA is proud of the accomplishments of its bowlers and congratulates all of its bowlers and teams who competed in the event this year.
About the Star City Open
The Star City Open is presented by Nebraska High School Bowling Federation and Lincoln Bowling Association. This year marked the 21st anniversary of the event, which has offered a minimum of $5,000 dollars in scholarship money every year, for a grand total of $121,000 dollars in total scholarship money to date.
